21 Day Fasting

God desires our undivided attention – put away the distractions. For example: media; tv; etc. whatever has priority in your life. Take this time to train for reigning. We must come up to a higher level.

Fasting is a key spiritual discipline that helps unlock heaven’s door and shut the gates of Hell. It will help when you are dry spiritually, or when you do not sense a cutting-edge anointing, or in the times when you know you need a fresh encounter with God (like every day!).

Fasting is mentioned often in the bible and refers to refraining from food for spiritual purposes. Fasting helps break our routine of always immediately responding to hunger with food. It reminds us of the words Jesus spoke to the disciples in Matthew 26:41, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Instead of eating food to satiate our hunger, we spend time praying and meditating on God’s Word.

Fasting reminds us that we obtain nourishment from consuming God’s Word. We’re told in Matthew 4:3-4, “The tempter came to [Jesus] and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” In John 4:34, Jesus said, “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” Meditating on the truth help de-clutter our spirit so we can “rule our spirit” (Proverbs 25:28) and strengthen our spiritual immune system.

Practical Tips

– Without being combined with prayer and the Word of God, fasting is little more than dieting.

– Drink lots of water. – Pray and stay in God’s Word.

– You may experience headaches, hunger pains, etc.

– Keep a journal to write down what the Lord is showing you and articulate your reasons for fasting.
